In addition to new creature cards with special effects , The Vale of Eternity 's expansion also introduces artifacts as a new, optional game module. Each round, players select a different artifact from the display, which grants them various effects, such as expanding their own display. Furthermore, The Vale of Eternity: Artifacts also introduces lair markers, which can be used to put creatures to sleep or awaken them.
